PC benchmark: Ryzen 3 1300X outperforms Core i5-6500X

Intel is offering two desktop processors for the $199 Ryzen 3 series, with the Intel Core i3-6570U and the Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4-2640 v4 for $249.

The Ryzen 3 1350 and the Ryzen 3 1200X are both available for pre-order now, and AMD is also offering Ryzen 3 1600X and Ryzen 3 1400 for $229 and $249 respectively.

Both of those CPUs are also available for $199 with the Ryzen FX-6300 and Ryzen 7 1700, and we’ll also have an article to write about that one soon.

As a refresher, here are the CPUs we’re talking about, and a breakdown of how much they’ll cost. 

The Ryzen 3 1500X is the first of these two chips, which is why we’ve been focusing on the price point. 

 The 1500X is a quad-core chip that comes with the latest Intel Core 3-3120 CPUs (including the Core i7-6800K) as well as a 16GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM module.

The 1600X is the second of these chips, though, and it comes with four Intel Core 2 Duo processors, eight PCIe lanes, an 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and four SATA ports.

We don’t know the specs for this processor, but the 1500X has four PCIe lanes and eight SATA ports, so that’s good. 

This one is the first to offer a 16-lane dual-channel DDR4 configuration. 

Intel is also touting the Core 2 X5650 and Core 2 A5500, both of which feature a 64-bit architecture and will cost you $249 and $299 respectively. 

We’ll be covering all of these processors in a separate article shortly, but for now, let’s talk about the AMD Ryzen 3 2500X. 

AMD has released two Ryzen 3 2600X chips that we’ll be looking at, and both are offering the same performance as the 1600X.

The Ryzen 2600X comes with a quad core chip, so it’ll cost you about $249, and you’ll get eight PCIe and two SATA ports as well.

The 2500X will also have a quad channel DDR4 memory configuration.

The 2600X is also available with a 32-lane DDR4, but it will cost about $299. 

Again, these two processors are available with four PCIe and eight PCIe/s SATA lanes.
